Intelligent Design in Louisiana Public Schools; Internet Sings with Praise

Yeah. Right.

Learned about this news through Kevin D. White’s FriendFeed page, but as one can imagine, it didn’t exactly come along with positive support.

He picked this up from Phil Plait at “Bad Astronomy,”

the education bill that will allow creationism to be taught in public schools has now passed both the House and the Senate in the state government. In other words, if Governor Bobby Jindal signs it, it becomes law. And then Louisiana is doomed.

It baffles me that most netizens who posit themselves as these “liberal free-thinkers” quip that their “common sense” and “reality-based thinking” overrules any belief in a deity don’t even see the irony in their own self-contradictions. Sure, they’ll proclaim “freedom of choice” in the name of human rights (which slaps in the face of African-American citizens and their struggle to freedom from slavery, but that’s another story), but reintroduce a sensible alternative to belief in The Theory and they become unglued!

The Theory of Evolution is Another Faith-based Belief

That’s right: belief. Darwinism is just a belief system based on supposition. Sure, evolutionists think they got all the “scientific evidence” that proves their beliefs right, but all they have is just enough to make a theory(1). I would submit that it takes more faith to believe that it was by chance, mutations, and natural selection that got us here as opposed to a Loving and Just God. Not one theorist, not even Darwin-Loving Dawkins, can say with certainty how the first living cell came into existence.

Regardless, 100s of millions of Americans send their children to public schools subjecting them to a hopeless belief that asserts we magically emerged from some funky goo. And sadly, many parents believe it too.

In the Name of Freedom of Choice?

I’m further befuddled that most political leftists want to play the freedom-of-choice card to live their lives and insist we let their individual choice reign, yet they’re all about indoctrinating our youth with a theory to the exclusion of lessons in hope, faith, and love – true love. (just a couple byproducts to which learning and believing Creationism will lead… and that’s harmful how?)

I’m not saying we shouldn’t have freedom of choice. In fact, I’m saying there should be freedom of choice; however, current standards in the public schools where evolution and natural selection is the only way, don’t give any choice. And that self-contradicting dogma leaves our kids believing their lives have no meaning. Note: it’s only been a generation or two since the foundational principles of our country were kicked out of our schools. We have yet to see the full effect.

Choices are Great, Maybe they Should All be Offered

I’d even be okay if the government wanted to give equal time to ALL religions. Christian brothers and sisters, relax. Recall Baal (read the Book of Judges). There really is no match for our God and God doesn’t really need us anyway. Besides, it’s not about religion anyway is it?

Don’t Give Up on Them, Though

I would encourage all my believer friends to continue to pray for the evolutionists. God doesn’t hate them and neither should we. Yes, their beliefs are impositions and carcinogenic, but don’t let it rob you of your joy. Don’t go after the people, go after their wacky belief system.

Obviously, I’m a Christian, but it’s not my Christian values that make me speak up against the opposition to Intelligent Design(2). It’s my belief that we should have a choice as to which *truths* are presented to our children. And I’ll admit that it’s also my common sense, reality-based knowledge that some choices are simply wrong.
